Does Thread Lifts Work?

cosmetic surgery miami beach

How do thread lifts work? This involves the use of a needle to inject small barbs on the skin's dissolvable threads. These barbs then pull skin in place and stimulate body to produce collagen, elastin, and give it support and structure. Thread lifts can be performed safely and with minimal risk. Some side effects may be mild and temporary. These symptoms will resolve in a few working days.

Thread lift sutures can only be inserted in one or two directions

To perform a thread lift, a small needle is inserted into the skin, numbing the entry points. A barbed thread is then placed just beneath the skin, and pulled back to reposition the sagging tissues. The thread will slowly dissolve, leaving behind new collagen that can be used to support the repositioning over a prolonged period. This procedure is most often done in the surgeon's chair. The sutures are placed in one or two directions, depending on the patient's anatomy. Afterward, the threads dissolve over a period of three to four months, and there is a minimal chance of long-term complications with thread lift.

They stimulate collagen formation

Thread lifts are an excellent option if you desire to appear younger. These nonsurgical procedures work by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin in the body. The barbs attached to the threads act like cogs and lift the sagging tissues. Barbs are also known by the names cones and barbs. They hook into skin. When the sutures are absorbed into the skin, collagen is stimulated. The body then absorbs the threads and keeps them in place for over a full year.

They don't require incisions

Thread lifts aren't as painful as a traditional facelift. While the procedure requires some healing, the effects are very minor. Common side effects following surgery include swelling andbruising. These symptoms usually resolve within a week. For the first week, patients should refrain from engaging in strenuous activities. Sutures may sometimes migrate under the skin in rare cases. However, these can be removed easily and replaced with new ones.

They last up to 2 years

A thread lift lasts for two years and requires little to no downtime. There may be some discomfort in the beginning, such as bruising and soreness. But once this is over, you will be able to return to your regular daily activities. You can expect to see results in six to nine month, with an additional two to three year. The thread lift can be used to lift the upper facial area, but it can also be used for improving the appearance of the neck or other areas. Prior to scheduling a Thread Lift, you'll need to attend a complimentary consultation.

They can be used in lieu of a surgical facelift.

Another non-surgical alternative to surgical facelifts is thread lifts. These cosmetic procedures employ sutures made of resorbable, thread-like threads to lift the skin mid-face. They are performed in approximately 45 minutes and require local pain relief. After the threads have been embedded into the skin, they can be pulled taut to ensure proper embedding. This procedure stimulates the body’s own collagen production. The results may last up to one year.
